The Botox lip flip. More upper lip, no filler.
A Botox lip flip is a small dose of Botox placed above the edge of the upper lip to relax the muscle that pulls the lip inward, so the lip rolls outward and shows more pink with no filler. At Neoderma in Anaheim, CA it is a flat $150, takes minutes, shows within 3–7 days and lasts about 3–4 months.

What is a Botox lip flip?
A muscle treatment, not a volume treatment. The upper lip sits on a ring of muscle called the orbicularis oris. When that muscle contracts, especially in a smile, it curls the lip inward and the pink part all but disappears. Relax the top edge of that muscle slightly and the lip rests a little further out.
What it changes
More of the upper lip shows, especially in lips that read thin when you smile, and the result is a subtly fuller look. The lip itself is not made bigger.
How a lip flip works →Flip vs. filler
Filler adds volume and shape and lasts up to a year. A flip adds nothing and lasts a season. Which one you need depends on what is bothering you.

In and out in the time it takes to park: Neoderma's Botox visits run about 20–30 minutes including the consultation, and the injections themselves take minutes.
Assess
A medical provider looks at your lips at rest and in a smile, asks what you want to change, and tells you honestly whether a flip, filler, or neither is the right tool.
Inject
A few units of Botox go in at the upper lip border with a very fine needle. Most people describe it as a couple of quick pinches.
Go
No downtime. The first change shows within 3–7 days, the full effect around two weeks, and it lasts about 3–4 months before fading on its own.
What does a lip flip look like before and after?
Subtle on purpose. A good lip flip is the kind of change people notice without being able to name: the smile looks a little softer and the upper lip a little more present, and nobody asks what you had done. Photos on this site are real Neoderma patients, and individual results vary.
“She's kind and reminds you that your face is beautiful as-is, but listens intently to what your desired look is and tells you what we would do to achieve it.”

Lip flip FAQ
What is a lip flip?
A lip flip is a Botox treatment, not a filler. A few small units are placed along the border of the upper lip to relax the muscle there (the orbicularis oris), so the lip gently rolls outward and shows more of its pink. The lip is not made bigger; a little more of what you already have becomes visible, especially when you smile.
How much does a lip flip cost?
A flat $150 at Neoderma Advanced Skin Care in Anaheim, priced as a set service rather than by the unit. The consultation is $50, credited toward the cost of treatment if you go ahead within two weeks of the consultation. The cost page covers first-visit savings, financing and how it compares with filler over a year.
Is a lip flip permanent?
No. Botox wears off on its own. Neoderma's published average for Botox results is about 3–4 months, and when it fades the lip simply returns to how it was. How long a lip flip lasts walks through the timeline from the first change to the last.
Does a lip flip hurt, and is there downtime?
The injections are a few quick pinches with a very fine needle, and the treatment itself takes minutes. There is no downtime: you walk out and carry on with your day.
Do lip flips actually work?
For the right lips, yes, and the change is deliberately subtle. A flip relaxes the muscle above the upper lip so the lip rolls slightly outward and shows more of its pink, especially when you smile; Neoderma describes the result as a subtly fuller look with no filler involved. It adds no volume at all, so if what you want is more lip rather than more show of lip, filler is the tool for that.
Lip flip or lip filler: which one do I need?
They do different jobs. A flip relaxes a muscle and adds nothing; filler adds volume and shape. If your lips look fine at rest but all but disappear when you laugh, a flip is usually the answer. If you want a crisper border, a fuller lower lip or one side evened out, that is filler, from $695 a syringe at Neoderma. The side-by-side comparison goes deeper.
